◆comfort n. & v.
1. 用作名词，表示抽象意义的“安慰”，是不可数名词（通常与动词 get, find, take, seek, bring, offer 等连用)； 表示具体的给人以安慰的人或东西，是可数名词(多用作表语)。如：
The news brought comfort to us all. 我消息给我们大家带来了安慰。
Her children are a great comfort to her. 她的孩子是她极大的安慰。
同样地，表示抽象意义的“舒适”，是不可数名词；表示具体的使人舒适的东西，是可数名词。如：
He lives in comfort. 他生活舒适。
The hotel has all modern comforts. 这家旅馆有各种现代化的舒适设施。
2. 注意：形容词 comfortable, 可以表示“舒适的”，但并不表示“安慰的”。如：
I do not feel comfortable here. 我在这儿感到不舒服。
◆command n. & v.
1. 用作动词，表示“命令”，后接宾语从句通常用虚拟语气。如：
He commanded that the soldiers should go to the front. 他命令士兵奔赴前线。
比较：He commanded the soldiers to go to the front.
2. 用作名词，注意区别两类易混结构：
(1) in command of 指挥……(带有主动意味)
(2) in [at, under] the command of 由……指挥(带有被动意味) General Smith is in command of the army. 史密斯将军指挥这支军队。
The army is in [at, under] the command of General Smith. 这支军队由是史密斯将军指挥。
◆company n.
1. 表示“客人”、“陪伴”、“交往”等，是不可数名词。如：
Company is coming for dinner. 有客人要来吃饭。
I’m glad to have her company. 我很高兴有她作伴。
He keeps [is in] good company. 他与好人交朋友。
A man is known by the company he keeps. 观友见其人。
Please stay and keep me company for a while. 请留下陪我一会儿。
2. 表示“公司”，注意以下用法：
(1) 通常为可数名词。如：
He is working for an insurance company. 他在一家保险公司工作。
(2) 用作主语时，其谓语可用单数(视为整体)或复数(视为个体)均可。如：
The company is expecting to expand its operations abroad.
/The company are expecting to expand their operations abroad. 该公司想扩大在国外的业务。
比较：
A company of travellers is [are] expected to arrive soon.
预计一批旅客很快就会到来。
(3) 有时表示公司名称中未列出姓名的合伙人，此时是不可数名词(可略为 Co. )。比如：Smith 与其合作者共同开办的公司便可以叫做Smith & Co.，也可以叫 The Smith Company。
注：凡是带有& [=and]的公司名，其前都不能用定冠词；若没有& ，则用不用定冠词均可。另外，没有姓氏的公司名中不能用& ：
正：(The) Smith Company 史密斯公司
误：The Smith & Co.
正：The Cinema Company 电影公司
误：The Cinema & Co.
